Choose Measure:
Heart Attack or Chest Pain
Glossary of Terms
A heart attack (also called AMI or acute myocardial infarction) happens when the arteries leading to the heart become blocked and the blood supply is slowed or stopped. These measures show some of the process of care provided, if appropriate for most adults who have had a heart attack. The outpatient Heart Attack or Chest Pain measures apply to patients transferred to an acute care facility for a higher level of care. For 30-Day Mortality and 30-Day Readmission, means better than the national rate, means no different than the national rate, and means worse than the national rate. For more information, click on the column headings.

Click here for more information from the Hospital Compare website about why Heart Attack Process of Care Measures are important.
The data below represents discharges from January 2010 - December 2010, with the exception of 30-day mortality and readmission rates. These percentages were calculated from Medicare data on patients discharged between July 2007 - June 2010. They don't include people in Medicare Advantage Plans (like an HMO or PPO) or people who don't have Medicare.
